Odanadi: Home for Trafficked
Women & Girls

One of the excursions I found to be the most interesting was visiting Odanadi. Odanadi is a non-governmental organization (NGO) that rescues, motivates, and helps reintegrate trafficked women and girls. During the introductory lecture, Stanly--one of the founders of Odanadi--explained that Odanadi means "close friend" and that was what this organization hoped to make them feel like they were close friends. And based on the brief conversations we had with these women and young girls, they told us that Odanadi feels like a home to them and that they feel happy to be there. They mentioned they enjoy certain activities offered by Odanadi, such as painting. This can be seen in the art exhibition by the many paintings on the wall. Another activity some of the women residing in Odanadi enjoy is working at the salon. The beauty salon is a small building located on the grounds of Odanadi, it is a small business started by some of the women at Odanadi who had a passion for cosmetology. This is only one of the examples in which Odanadi has helped these women succeed, they find their strengths, motivate, and train them to pursue what they desire.

This is the front entrance of Odanadi. Before being given a tour of the place, a brief lecture was held in one of the rooms explaining the history and purpose of Odanadi.

This is a view from one of the hallways inside Odanadi, most of the window frames are painted this same shade of yellow and design.

This bulletin board contains newspapers and articles on human trafficking cases in which the rescue team was able to help.

These are only a few of the human trafficking posters hung on the walls of Odanadi, each contains a different design to send different messages.

This is a view inside of the exhibition room, it is full of art done by women and girls at Odanadi.

The outside of the salon building located on the grounds of Odanadi. This was a business started by some of the women residing at Odanadi.

A view from the inside of the salon. Here, they offer services such as hair washing, hair cuts, and eyebrow threading, only to name a few.

The women and girls at Odanadi are able to express their emotions and experiences through artisitic forms such as these paintings.

A closer look into salon. Some of the women at Odanadi work here with the incentive to start gaining financial independence.
